kati and i had the great opportunity to sit and listen to one of the lords apostles this past sunday. how awesome it is to know that there are prophets and apostles on the earth to lead us and teach us the things that the lord would have us to know. to sit at elder nelsons feet and listen to him teach us what we need to be teaching our children was amazing and to be able to be there with my wife was even better. the thing that stuck out to me was that he told us to reserve the best teachers in our ward for primary. the spirit that he brought was incredible. i dont know why dallas was so special this weekend but we had three of the fifteen apostles here within a 25 mile radius. the weather had been horrible all weekend with hurricane ike and i wake up on sunday and it is the most gorgeous weather. all in all it was a fantastic weekend. one last note is that i am so thankful for prayer and that we are living in a world that god will listen to us and give us answers to our prayers.

September 11
It is hard to believe that it has been 7 years since that horrendous day. even though it has been that long i can still remember that bright tuesday morning as clear as the events were happening. kati and i had closed the night before and did not get home till about 1 in the morning and would have normally slept in till we had to be to work at 1130 in the morning. it just so happened that there was a store was having a sale on digital cameras and we were up at about 730 on our way to the store. i remember it as clear as day. we were on park blvd in front of the chilis and the radio cut in and said that a plane had hit the first tower and i remember the dj being calm and non chellant about it like it was no big deal. we didnt really think much of it and went on about our shopping. we were walking around the store and we realized that we needed some more money so i was walking out to the car and i overheard a couple of women talking about how another plane had hit the second tower. i went back in and told kati and we made our purchases and rushed home to see what was going on. for the next two days or so, we did not leave the television. we could not believe what was happening. how could this be happening to us. how could someone do this to our country. for all the problems that had followed president bush for the next 8 years, he was the right man to lead this country during these attacks. I am thankful to all those people that paid the price to find the survivors and to defend this country since that day. i thank my heavenly father that i live in america, that we have the ability to worship him the way we chose. i am thankful that we are safe here. i know that we are still at risk and more attacks are not only possible but still likely, however we are safer than we have ever been.
